Q: What is the Navasota Wilderness Expedition Society?
A: The Navasota Wilderness Expedition Society (NWES) is a community of hikers, climbers, and back country fanatics that plan and execute long hikes and expeditions. We are a non-profit 501(c)(7) corporation that promotes hiking as a lifelong sport. We welcome new hikers and families who would like to learn about the sport. Whether you’re 8 or 88, we want to introduce you to hiking.
Q: How do I get in touch with you?
A: You can call us at (936) 931-8268, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q: What does the NWES do?
A: We like to hike – A LOT!! A typical trek would be 7-14 days, 55-120 miles. We are avid backpackers who like to get back to nature, unencumbered with the worries of the world – for a while. We carry all of our gear with us and live with hardship – for a while. We forget about our jobs, money, responsibilities – for a while. We don’t forget about our families because we usually take them with us.
Q: When is your next trip?
A: Our next trip will be our summer long hike. This year, we may split the club with half doing an Appalachian Trail hike, and the other half doing a Pacific Coast Trail hike.
Q: I’m interested in hiking, but don’t have any experience.
A: We welcome new hikers. Our crew members can help you to acquire gear, so don’t feel like you need to spend lots of money to get started. We can help you.
Q: How do I join?
A: NWES has annual dues of $20 for an individual membership and $30 for an unlimited family membership. We use our dues to buy equipment, handle our bank fees, and generally promote hiking for the club. Contact us for further information.
